Getting all domestic

I've had a little domestic inspiration lately.

Elisia and I made Fairy cupcakes together.

Lemon cake with sweet lemon glaze.

Elisia thought they were very tasty.

This weekend we had homemade foccacia for dinner.

And then I thought I would make some Pottery Barn inspired "cookies" with "sprinkles" out of felt for Elisia to play with.

Now I must return to normal life, sweeping, ordering pizza, and chugging coffee.

Frogs at school

Ethan wanted to bring the frogs to school to show to his class. Mrs Johnson enthusiastically said it was okay to bring them. I knew it would be difficult to keep them alive between the handling from Ethan and Elisia and the lack of appropriate frog food.

Well the day we were scheduled to bring them in, I went to check on the frogs. There they were, two little frogs with bright eyes. Elisia wanted to play with them and out of fear that she might let them free, I moved the frog box to the deck. I noticed the wind was picking up, which isn't unusual for windy North Bend.

They just needed to stay alive for one more hour. It was 30 minutes to show time at Ethan's class. I went to pack everything we needed into the car. Then I went to get the frog box. The hatch had been blown open. The frogs were gone.  I was so disappointed.

Mrs. Johnson said that when Ethan caught more we could bring them to class. So Ethan caught three more frogs.

And they were still alive to take to class the next day. And they never got out.

Ethan was so proud to show the frogs to the class. And the kids were very attentive.

Mrs. Johnson even let Ethan take a frog out to show to the kids up-close. They loved it. Ethan was so proud.

Thank you Mrs. Johnson.

Sunny Days

It is so nice to see the sun. Even Harvey enjoys absorbing some rays.

Elisia picked a spring time "flower" to decorate our table.

I made the ever famous "noodle soup" for lunch. This is a super favorite in our house, very kid friendly. Everyone got some noodle soup today. Sam really loves noodle soup. Although I should question my sanity for offering, Sam enjoyed having his own bowl and spoon for the first time.

Noodle Soup:
Veggie broth
Finely diced frozen broccoli
Shredded carrots
Small noodles (the smaller the better)
Boil
Serve. Simple kid food, Mmmmmmm.

Frogs

Yesterday Ethan caught three frogs in the retention pond in our neighborhood. He put them into a little plastic critter container his uncle bought for him. Ethan even caught a bee to feed to the frogs. I talked to Ethan's kindergarten teacher and we are scheduled to bring the frogs to his class next Wednesday. She says it will be a nice sign of spring. Ethan went to check on them today and returned saying, "One of the frogs vanished!" Vanished? We checked the container, there was no way for one to get out. Then I looked on-line. Sure enough, frogs can be cannibals. Apparently they control their own population this way. Interesting.

More Sam

After

Before

Still playing with Lightroom.

Sam

Playing with Lightroom. I can't figure out how to use the sampleviewer though. I have much playing to do to figure this stuff out.

Adding some features.

I have added a profile photo and some blogs to follow. I'm just not figuring out how to add music. And I really want a song to play when someone opens my blog. I will keep looking for answers...

Just Beginning

I decided to start a blog for our family. I am just getting started.
